Code Enforcement

The City of Keego Harbor's Code Enforcement program helps preserve safe, attractive, and well-maintained neighborhoods by ensuring properties comply with the City's Code of Ordinances and Zoning Ordinance. Code Enforcement works with residents, property owners, and businesses to encourage voluntary compliance while protecting public safety, neighborhood character, and property values.

Code Enforcement investigates a variety of property maintenance and zoning concerns, including:

  • Overgrown grass and weeds
  • Inoperable or abandoned vehicles
  • Property maintenance and building conditions
  • Unpermitted signs
  • Outdoor storage and junk accumulation
  • Public nuisances
  • Other violations of the City Code of Ordinances

Parking Regulations

Please note that parking is prohibited on all public streets within the City of Keego Harbor, and parking on lawns is also prohibited. These regulations help ensure emergency vehicles, refuse collection, and snow removal equipment can safely access every neighborhood.

Vehicles parked in violation of these regulations may be ticketed and, when necessary, towed at the owner's expense. Limited exceptions may be granted in certain circumstances with advance approval from the Police Department.

Our Approach

The City's objective is to achieve compliance through education and communication whenever possible. Most violations may be resolved voluntarily after property owners are notified of a concern. When violations are not corrected, the City may pursue enforcement actions as authorized by the City Code of Ordinances, with penalties based on the nature and severity of the violation.

Questions regarding property maintenance requirements or potential code violations may be directed to the Building Department. The City's Code of Ordinances is available online and may also be reviewed at City Hall during regular business hours.
